Something Good

Yeah, I know we should never be too proud, and we should try to be humble in all we do, but good friend Karla reminded me this morning that it might just be OK to pat ourselves on the back once in a while.

Alex and I have three potted plants in the backyard that we like to call "our garden." After about a month, we had harvested a total of one bean (which eventually withered in the frig while waiting for others). But then, a tiny tomato emerged.
After a couple weeks maybe, we went outside one day to find it had turned a pretty red with a little yellow at top, and it was perfectly firm. So we picked it, took photos for proof and commenced to slicing and eating it.

We were so proud, and I hope Alex remembers that little tomato that she and Mommy grew together. We should've named it. And, as of about a week ago, I spied a tiny green bulb, so with all the rain this week, we might just see tomato No. 2 soon.

  1. I wouldn't name it. Then it's like eating your pet.
