Wow, what a crazy storm last night. We were at Meadowbrook Park at the playground, waiting for Gerald's golf foursome to tee up at the adjoining golf course. I sent Alex up to the chainlink fence to wait for Gerald to come over the hill (maybe 50 yards away). Then, suddenly, I heard this crazy rustling in the tall trees behind me. I just looked -- not sure what I was waiting for. Then, finally, this massive wind burst through the trees. A cold, strong, fast gust consumed us, kicking up dust and debris.
Every parent in sight, me included, instinctly grabbed our kids and took out. I scared Alex by yelling so frantically, especially since the weather was so pleasant five seconds earlier. As we headed home, we both calmed down, and we arrived home just in time to avoid the massive downpour. We left Gerald at the course to fend for himself, but we said a quick prayer in the car, and he called us shortly after from the clubhouse.
At least one tornado from what I've heard. I hope everyone is OK. And more showers this morning. Driving to work was horrible. I-20 to Loop 12 to 114 -- thumbs down.
I'm glad Alex got to go swimming yesterday afternoon because today she's gonna be stuck in the house.
