We want to party.

We've been trying to get to Austin all day to celebrate Ally Moody's 3rd birthday! The second wave of storms is passing, so we'll make a break for it soon.

The big DFW news is that the "bubble" roof of the Dallas Cowboys' practice facility collapsed on the rookie players' practice this afternoon. So far, everyone is accounted for, but the bubble, when collapsed on the ground, covers about 1 1/2 football fields, so they're still searching through it. The bubble itself (made of canvas/plastic?) probably isn't that dangerous; it was the aluminum structure and lighting that was so dangerous when it came crashing down.

Some news crews were actually filming practice at the time, so they got caught up in it. And of course, the late-breaking newscaster was grilling them via their cell phone. Their voices were shaking; they were still upset. Things like this remind me why I left newspapers. I understand the need to beat the competition and make a living, but I wouldn't have been proud of having to interrogate a co-worker on live TV about a traumatic even he just went through.

  1. How sad is my life that I read about this on Facebook and then Wes and I drive to Valley Ranch to take a look. It was a huge structure!
